Ángela Becerra Acevedo (born July 17, 1957 in Cali ) is a Colombian author who was awarded the Premio Planeta-Casa de América de narrativa ("Ibero-American Planeta-Casa of America Storytelling Prize") 2009, the Premio Azorín 2005 and four Latin Literary awards Awards from Chicago. Her works have been translated into 23 languages ​​and published in more than 50 countries. She is considered to be the creator of magical idealism and is one of the most widely read authors and the most widely read Spanish-language writers after Gabriel García Márquez.

She studied advertising and communication and worked in Cali and Bogotá . In 1998 she went to Barcelona . She worked in the advertising world for 20 years and received numerous international awards. In 2000 she gave up her career as a publicist to devote herself entirely to literature.
