Çılgın

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Çılgın is a music - and call-in - broadcast of the WDR Funkhaus Europa . A special characteristic of the program is the German-Turkish language mix in which it is moderated. Çılgın, which means “freaked out” in Turkish, is aimed at a young German-Turkish target group.

The program has been running since 1999 and was last heard on Saturdays from 6 p.m. for one hour in the program of the WDR Funkhaus Europa . Since the beginning of 2014, the broadcast in the Turkish format Cologne Radyosu has been on Funkhaus Europa, which is now broadcast daily at 6 p.m.

concept

Çılgın is primarily aimed at young people, but according to the broadcaster it is heard by all age groups, which is also indicated by the incidence of calls from older migrants.

Numerous German-Turkish audience discussions on a previously announced topic of the day and Turkish music from current pop music to cover versions of traditional Turkish folklore to hip-hop and house productions from Germany and Turkey are the main pillars of the show. In addition, listener requests and greetings from the entire broadcast area determine Çılgın's program. Çılgın also has event tips and raffle games specially selected for the target group.

The format, which has been running successfully for years, has now been classified as a “ cult program ” by both the WDR's public relations work and independent media journalists .

Language mix

The presenter Canan Büyrü describes the unplanned occurrence of the German-Turkish language mix, in which the program is sometimes moderated, as follows:

“The program is mainly German, the lingua franca is German and people keep calling who say we can't speak German, can we speak Turkish? That's not an issue at all. (...) Sometimes it is also the case that people call who say I would like to speak Turkish and then they switch on every second word. You then say something in Turkish and then there is another word in German. This bilingualism within a language while speaking in one language also comes to the fore very often. "

Moderators

The radio journalist Büyrü has been involved in the program since 1999 and initially moderated the program together with Enver Tuncer on a weekly basis. In the meantime, Oğuzhan Çelik took over .

In December 2007, the previous team of moderators Canon B. and Oguzhan C. was replaced by Sümeyra Kaya and Cenk Basoglu. The duo Kaya / Basoglu has hosted the infotainment program Cilgin in talk format since then in German, with guests from all walks of life, every Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The program was supplemented by the monthly edition Cilgin on Tour, in which Funkhausuropa relied on the duo's special strength in double moderation. Sümeyra and Cenk repeatedly visited their community "live" on site and presented extraordinary personalities and unusual job profiles. From 2008 onwards, Cenk Basoglu was also available with his regular "Superstyle" section at Süpermercado, where he reported on current trends in fashion and lifestyle as a trend scout. In mid-2014, the last program “Cilgin” with Sümeyra and Cenk was broadcast as a team, in which the two presenters presented highlights from previous programs from the past. Sümeyra Kaya now moderates the daily morning magazine "Süpermercado" on the same station WDR Funkhaus Europa in the team, while Cenk Basoglu withdrew from the media for a creative phase of discovery and is currently successfully working independently in the interior design and fashion industry.
