In 2007 a cameraman and a sound engineer arrive on Corvo , the smallest island in the Azores . Little by little, the recording team is accepted into the island community of 440 residents. In 14 chapters, Tocha describes various aspects of the island's more than 500-year-old civilization, which is largely based on oral tradition.

The film premiered on August 12, 2011 at the Locarno International Film Festival and was in competition at the doclisboa festival in October 2011 .
