Étangs de Commelles
The Étangs de Commelles ponds are located in the French communes of Orry-la-Ville and Coye-la-Forêt , in the Chantilly forest .
They were laid out at the beginning of the 13th century by the monks of the Chaalis monastery on an area of 40 hectares along the river Thève . At that time they were used for fish farming. They have lost this function to this day; however, they are now an important water reservoir on the lower reaches of the Thève.
Together with the Château de la Reine Blanche , they are a popular destination for hikers, walkers and anglers in the Chantilly and Paris region .
