Etienne de la Chapelle
Étienne de la Chapelle , known as de Paris (* around 1123 in Paris ; † February 13, 1173 there), was the 67th Archbishop of Bourges from 1171 to 1173.
Life
Étienne de la Chapelle was a brother of Gauthier I. de Villebéon , the Grand Chamberlain of France , and thus belonged to the Le Riche family . He was a canon at Sens Cathedral when he attended the coronation of King Louis VII of France and Queen Adela on November 13, 1160. As Abbot of Déols he was in 1162 by Pope Alexander III. appointed Bishop of Meaux , then in 1171 Archbishop of Bourges . He died of poisoning on February 13, 1173 in the Abbey of Saint-Victor in Paris . He was also buried there. His brother Gauthier I. de Villebéon donated an annual memorial in his memory.
