The Île Houle (French for swell island , also known as Houle Island ) is a small and low rocky island off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélieland . It is located 5.5 km north-northeast of the tongue of the Zélée Glacier and 1.5 km west of the Île du Ressac .
Aerial photos of the island were taken during the US Operation Highjump (1946–1947). French scientists mapped and named them during a research trip that lasted from 1949 to 1951. It is named after the swell that goes over the island.
