The Île aux Chevaux ( German  horse island ) is an island belonging to the municipality of Île d'Houat in the Morbihan department in Brittany in France . Her old name is Melvan. It is located about 2.0 km south of the Île d'Houat, 5.0 km west of the Île d'Hœdic and 8.0 km northeast of the Belle-Île-en-Mer .

The 400 m long and 250 m wide, flat island overgrown with grass was formerly used alternately by the inhabitants of Houat and Hœdic as a horse pasture. The uninhabited island is owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral .
