The Île des Mirage , also known as Mirage Island (from French and English mirage 'mirage , deception, delusion' ), is a rocky and 400 m long island off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélieland . It is located 500 m west of Cape Mousse at the north-western end of the group of Curzon Islands .
Participants of the 1949 permanent and 1951 French Antarctic Expedition took in 1950 a mapping before and named the island after the allegedly observed here mirages .
