Ñico Lora

Francisco Antonio Lora Cabrera (* 1880 in Maizal , † April 10, 1971 in Bisonó ), who became known under the name of Ñico Lora , was a Dominican musician and composer who is considered one of the fathers of merengue .

Ñico Lora, who never had any formal musical training, played the accordion since his youth . He composed a number of songs that are now part of the musical heritage of the Dominican Republic , including San Antonio , Tingo Talango , Eres la mujer más bella , Pedrito Chávez and San Francisco . In his honor, the Plaza de la Cultura Ñico Lora in Bisonó was named.
