Ólafur Þór Gunnarsson (politician)

Ólafur Þór Gunnarsson ( transcribed Olafur Thor Gunnarsson ; born July 17, 1963 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic politician ( left-green movement ).

Life

Ólafur Þór Gunnarsson worked as a district doctor in the Westfjords and as a specialist in geriatrics , at the Landspítali National University Hospital (LSH) since 2000 . From 2006 to 2017 he was a member of the Kópavogur municipal council .

After Ólafur Þór had served as a substitute ( varaþingmaður ) in the Icelandic parliament Althing since 2009 , the seat of Guðfríður Lilja Grétarsdóttir, who resigned at the end of 2012, passed to him in early 2013. He held this until the parliamentary elections on April 27, 2013 . He has been a member of parliament again since the parliamentary elections on October 28, 2017 . He was elected as a candidate for the Left-Green movement for the Southwest Constituency .

As of June 2019, Ólafur Þór Gunnarsson is a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Welfare and the Committee on Economic Affairs and Trade.
