Õnnelik korterikriisi lahendus (in German happy solution to a housing crisis ) is the title of an Estonian silent film from 1924. It was also known under the name Korterikriis ("The Housing Crisis ").

Movie

The director of the short film was the Estonian film pioneer Konstantin Märska . The main role was played by the Estonian wrestler and Olympic champion Eduard Pütsep . Weightlifter Kalju Raag can be seen in the role of the policeman . Both athletes also star in the Estonian drama Tšeka komissar Miroštšenko (director: Paul Sehnert ), shot a year later .

The comedy premiered on December 12, 1924. The film is considered lost . However, a summary and still photos have been preserved.

The Estonian capital Tallinn on a summer morning. In his home, the vagabond Shimmy sleeps his peaceful morning sleep. Water drips from the ceiling into Shimmy's bed. The angry landlady storms into the room and demands the outstanding rent payments. Since Shimmy can't pay, she throws him out.

Shimmy roams the city in search of a new place to stay. He discovers a large garbage can that serves as his home. A newsboy takes a break there to light a cigarette. Shimmy steals the paper from him, but is caught by a police officer. The policeman tries to bring Shimmy to the station, but manages to escape. The policeman pursues Shimmy in vain.

In the stolen newspaper, Shimmy reads an ad that changes his life: he meets with Miss Elly, who takes the vagabond home with her. In the evening Shimmy is already in her arms.
