The series 1067 was an electric locomotive - number of the Austrian Federal Railways , which in shunting was used.

history

In the early 1960s, the ÖBB acquired new electric shunting locomotives. The Jenbacher Werke (mechanical part) and ELIN (electrical part) received the order to build five test locomotives. As a special technical feature, the locomotives received an electrohydraulic drive: similar to a diesel locomotive, the engine transfers its power to the axles via a hydrodynamic gearbox.

Between 1961 and 1965 these locomotives were delivered to the ÖBB and added to the inventory as 1067.01 - 05. Contrary to what was hoped, they did not prove themselves in the planned operation. The exotic drive concept of the machines proved to be very susceptible to damage and did not meet the requirements. Due to the bad experience, an order for further class 1067 locomotives was out of the question. Since the problems with the locomotives could not be fixed permanently, 1067.01 and 05 were retired in 1985. A year later, 1067.02 was also retired. In 1994 the last two 1067s were retired - the last representative was 1067.03, which was retired on October 1, 1994.
