The 2041 series was a prototype of a diesel locomotive for the Austrian Federal Railways .

history

This prototype was built by Simmering-Graz-Pauker in 1961 as the LDH 1100/1250 and was intended to replace steam locomotives. The locomotive was rented from the ÖBB from 1962 and became part of their stock in 1968 as 2041. Since the locomotive only had an axle pressure of 16 t, it could be used on all branch lines. It was used as 2041.001 in the Vienna East train transport line for all types of trains. Damage and problems with the procurement of spare parts led to sometimes longer stays in the workshop, which is why there was no series procurement of this locomotive series. The locomotive was finally retired in 1974.
