The Ecology Station Bremen is an environmental education center for children, young people and adults in Bremen . It is located on the Lamotte estate in Bremen, Vegesack district, Schönebeck district , Am Gütpohl 11.

Lamotte estate

The villa and the Hofmeierhaus (formerly the estate manager's seat) on the Lamotte estate were built for the petroleum merchant Henry Lamotte. Landhaus and Hofmeierhaus have been a listed building since 2004. In 2008 the villa was sold with part of the property.
The estate is 17 hectares.

Association Ecology Station

The Ecological Station Association was founded in 1979. The site was bought by the city of Bremen in 1980 for around 1.4 million DM; it was initially managed by the Senator for Health and Environmental Protection. Over the years, the Ecology Station has been supported by several partners: the Senator for Education, the Ecology Station Association, the Senator for the Environment and the WWF Germany Environment Foundation .

The active members of the association included many teachers, such as B. Biology teacher Hans Stui.

The state institute for schools used the rooms in the villa and the garden for teaching purposes. An environmental laboratory was also set up there. In 1985, parts of the film Summer in Lesmona based on the letter novel by Magdalene Pauli were shot in the villa.

Since the villa was sold, the association and the work of the ecological station have been limited to the Hofmeierhaus and - if it does not belong to the villa - the outdoor area.

The ecology station can be reached with the bus routes 642 and 644 of the Bremen / Lower Saxony transport association and 98 and 99 of the Bremer Straßenbahn AG . The closest stops are Leuchtenburg, Denkmal and Herbartstraße .
