The Ecological Hunting Association of Austria (ÖJVÖ) is an association founded in 2010 by Austrian Hunting Association, which, in its understanding of a criteria to the ecology oriented hunting is committed and close to nature-oriented forestry and wildlife management. He sees himself as an alternative to the traditional hunting associations.

Principles and origins

The reason for the founding of the association was the forest-game conflict and the desire to be able to advertise "near-natural forest and game management" on a national level. The association forms the umbrella organization for several regional predecessor organizations from Upper Austria , Lower Austria and Styria . Some of them go back to the 1970s. The constituent meeting of the association in Semmering, Lower Austria, at which Elisabeth Emmert, the chairwoman of the German Ecological Hunting Association (ÖJV) also took part, elected the forester and entrepreneur Franz Puchegger as its first chairman.

The association welcomes the re-immigration of the predators wolf , lynx and bear and sees them as helpers in the regulation of game populations.
