Pfullendorfer emergency money
The Pfullendorfer Notgeld was a money substitute that arose from a shortage, which replaced missing legal tender at the beginning of the 20th century and was issued by municipal authorities.
background
In the third year of the First World War , on October 3, 1917, the city of Pfullendorf issued emergency money (50-pfennig bills) for the first time due to a noticeable lack of change in the city . After the currency continued to decline in the following years, further emergency money issues were initiated until 1923, initially in value levels from 50 Pfennig, at the time of high inflation up to 1 trillion marks.
The signatures of (Ernst Reinhard) Vollmar (Mayor 1908 to 1933), (Hugo) Gress (accountant) and / or the city calculator F (riedrich) Winkler can be found on the Pfullendorfer Notgeld.
