The Mount of Olives Cross was donated on December 24, 1909 by Prince Eitel Friedrich von Prussia to commemorate the establishment of the Empress Auguste Victoria Foundation on the Mount of Olives near Jerusalem and could be awarded to men and women who have made outstanding contributions to the foundation .

The religious character is a gilt silver manufactured Jerusalem Cross from a red enameled cross potent and four black enamelled Greek Cross -hook in the middle of the white cross of St. John .

The Mount of Olives Cross was carried on a white ribbon.
