Warrior Merit Medal

The Warrior Merit Medal was donated on May 11, 1892 by Kaiser Wilhelm II as an award for bravery for colored soldiers of the German protection forces in German East Africa .

From March 25, 1893, the two-class medal could also be awarded to relatives in the other German colonies .

The first class was intended for officers , the second class for NCOs and men .

On the obverse, the first class medal shows the left-facing bust of Wilhelm II with a cuirass and parade helmet . All around GUILELMUS II IMPERATOR (Wilhelm II. Kaiser). Back from a laurel wreath surrounding WARRIOR MERIT .

The class II medal shows the crowned letters WR (Wilhelm Rex). The back is identical to the first class.

The medal was worn on a black ribbon with white side stripes on the left chest.
