Illingen oil mill

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The historic oil mill in Illingen , Württemberg, is a technical cultural monument and local museum thanks to the completely preserved original furnishings from 1904. The specialty of the mill is that the highest quality edible oils are produced here in a traditional way. In a modern production area z. B. pressed from regional organic flax and hemp oils.

The origins of the mill are in Mühlhausen an der Enz . There, vegetable oils from poppy seeds , hemp , rapeseed and walnuts were produced in a mill operated by water power . With the construction of the power station and weir, the mill had to be converted to electrical operation in 1922. Due to the better transport connections, the entire mill operation was relocated to Illingen in 1927. The lack of demand for contract pressing led to the mill being shut down in 1964.

After an interruption of almost 40 years, the Illingen oil mill was renovated and put into operation in 2002 while retaining the original furnishings. Today the mill is open to visitors and customers again. In the adjoining “Öl-Lädle” you can buy pressed oils on site.
