The Austrian Society for Nutrition (ÖGE) is a registered, non-profit association founded in 1951 with headquarters in Vienna . The goals of the ÖGE are the “promotion of research, teaching and information in the entire field of nutrition ” in Austria . It currently has around 1000 members, of which 85% are individual members and 15% are public and private institutions, trade associations and companies.

Six elected board members represent the company. The presidium consists of the president, two vice-presidents and the chairman of ICC-Austria.

She is the publisher of the specialist magazine "Nutrition Current" (appears four times a year) and runs the database "Food intolerance" with extensive information on the subject, which is aimed at representatives of the health professions and those affected. Furthermore, experts on various topics of nutrition can be referred as an additional service.

Since 2007 it has been awarding a seal of approval for nutrient-optimized food quality in communal catering in cooperation with the German Nutrition Society .

A “nutrition academy” as a training initiative is aimed at teachers and staff in kindergartens and day care facilities in order to promote their skills in the field of nutrition and to support them in their work practice.

The ÖGE is a member of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) and the Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS). Partner organizations are the German Nutrition Society (DGE) and the Swiss Nutrition Society (SGE / SSN), with which three-country conferences are held together.
