The Swiss Society for Nutrition (SGE; French Société Suisse de Nutrition (SSN) , Italian Società Svizzera di Nutrizione (SSN) ) was founded in 1965 as a non-profit association based in Bern .

The goals are according to their own statements:

  • Education of the population about all questions of a healthy diet with up-to-date, scientifically proven and balanced measures of nutritional information, education and training.
  • Promotion of the exchange of experience and cooperation between scientifically and practically active persons and organizations in the field of nutrition.
  • Promotion of scientific research in the nutrition sector and the exchange of information on new research projects and results.

In 2012 it had around 6,000 members (82% German-speaking Switzerland , 15% French -speaking Switzerland , 3% Ticino ) as individual members and 5% as collective, patron and free members. The company is represented by a ten-person executive board, and 13 employees are permanently employed in the office.

She is the editor of the specialist magazine "Tabula", which appears four times a year. In addition, bilingual and sometimes trilingual information on the topic of nutrition is printed or published electronically.

The association oversees the Nutricalc nutrition test to assess and improve individual nutritional behavior.

The association is a member of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) and the Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS). Partner organizations are the German Nutrition Society (DGE) and the Austrian Nutrition Society (ÖGE), with whom three-country conferences are held.
