Austrian Hall of Nations and Fame

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Austrian Hall of Nations and Fame was an unrealized project that was to be built on Vienna's Leopoldsberg at the beginning of the 20th century.

history

After Richard von Kralik's (1852–1934) plan for a hall of fame on Leopoldsberg had finally failed at the beginning of the 20th century, the architect Friedrich Ohmann (1859–1927) took up this idea during the First World War . In 1915 a competition on the subject of "War Memorial" was announced to the public. Over 200 designs were submitted.

However, the unfavorable course of the war for Austria-Hungary and the collapse of the dual monarchy in 1918 put an end to the plans.
