The Öxarárfoss [ 'œxsarauˑr̥ˌfɔsː ] is a waterfall in the west of Iceland , it feeds from the water of the Öxará .
Geography and location
The Öxarárfoss is located north of the Þingvallavatn near Þingvellir . It is located near the Þingvallavegur .
history
The Öxarárfoss was probably created artificially to lead the Öxará down to the Thingstätte in Þingvellir . In this way, the settlers of Iceland, who met here every year, could be adequately supplied with water.
