Hold-up alarm system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A hold-up alarm system (ÜMA) is a hazard alarm system and is used to alert the police or security guards in the event of an attack .

The task of the ÜMA is to report the alarm triggered manually by the victim from a hold-up detector to a previously determined competent authority. Robbery alarm systems are mandatory for credit institutes by the responsible professional association .

Modern hold-up alarm systems are now rarely installed separately; the ÜMA is usually integrated in modern intrusion alarm systems.

The attack detector usually consists of a special button or switch that triggers the alarm. Here, manual triggers, foot triggers (step bars), code input devices and bill contact triggers are used. Integrated triggering options are also used (for example in PC programs for cash register operation). In principle, hold-up alarms should be installed in such a way that they can be triggered unnoticed by the people at risk, i. In other words, during or after the triggering, the perpetrator must not be able to detect any indications such as a perceptible pushing noise or damaged cover plates of the buttons, but the triggering of each hold-up alarm must be traceable, for example by a seal to be pierced, which can only be reset by the maintenance service can. After being triggered, a hold-up detector must revert to a state within a very short time that enables it to be triggered again. A hold-up alarm or the hold-up alarm system must not be able to be overridden by the employees working on site.

Alert types

A silent alarm occurs, usually via a transmission device or a dedicated line . Depending on the rules and regulations applied, external signaling devices such as flashing lights or sirens should not or should not be activated, as this can lead the perpetrator to unpredictable actions, which would generally increase the risk to employees. If the operator of the hold-up alarm system insists, but no guidelines prohibit this, or if mobile branches are used, the anonymous public can be given an acoustic alarm.

A direct alert to the police when a hold-up alarm is triggered is only permitted in compliance with the federal guideline for hold-up / burglar alarm systems or systems for emergencies / hazards with connection to the police ( ÜEA guideline ). In all other cases, a hold-up alarm must be forwarded via a permanently manned office, such as B. an emergency and service control center .

commitment

This type of alarm is used in particular in particularly endangered areas. These include above all cash dispensing points, such as banks, paying agents and official cash registers, as well as workplaces that are located near such dispensing points. In German credit institutions, it is mandatory to affix it to all places with cash processing.
