The Þistilfjörður (lit. "Distelfjord") is a fjord in northeast Iceland . But it is more of a large bay than a typical fjord.
This stretches around 50 kilometers between the Langanes peninsula in the east and the Melrakkaslétta peninsula in the west, but only extends 30 kilometers into the country. The larger towns in Þistilfjörður are Þórshöfn and Raufarhöfn . They can be reached on the Norðausturvegur .
