The ČD series 714 is a diesel-electric locomotive produced by the Czech railway company České dráhy (ČD). They were created as part of a reconstruction program from vehicles of the 735 series (formerly T 466.0). Only the frame and the bogies were used by the donor locomotives.

technical features

Prototype 714.001 with original superstructures

Instead of the original Pielstick engine, the locomotives now have two machine systems with LIAZ diesel engines that are similar to those of the 704 series . Each of the machine systems gives its power to a bogie, so that operation with just one motor is possible without any problems. An electrical resistance brake with an output of 1020 kW also serves as the service brake. In addition to the two prototypes, the locomotives were given new superstructures, which, thanks to their low design, give the driver a good view of the route.
