The vehicles of the ČSD series 525.0 were five- coupled freight train tank locomotives of the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD), which were originally ordered by the mining company Ostravsko-karvinskékomouhelné doly (OKD) for the company's own coal and steel railway.
history
The mining company Ostravsko-karvinskékomouhelné doly (until 1945: Severní dráha Ferdinanda ; SDF) ordered three five-coupled steam locomotives of the EP 800 factory type from ČKD in Prague in 1948 for the operation of the Ostrava –Doubrava industrial line . In 1950 the locomotives with the serial numbers 2535 to 2537 were delivered to the operating company ČSD. The locomotives were initially given the numbers 514.013 to 514.015 , only later did they receive the correct series designation 525.0. The Vítkovice ironworks railway received two more identical locomotives .
The locomotives were able to move a 1000 ton train on the plain at 50 km / h. On a gradient of 25 per mille, the locomotives managed 300 tons at a speed of 14 km / h.
Until the 1960s, the locomotives were used on their main line, until they became dispensable with the beginning of the traction change. The locomotives were retired in 1967. None of the 525.0 series has been preserved in a museum. One machine of the ČKD factory type EP 1000 is kept in the Veselí nad Moravou depot .
