The vehicles of the ČSD series 514.0 were five- coupled freight train tank locomotives of the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD), which were originally procured by the Ferdinands-Nordbahn (Czech: Severní dráha Ferdinanda ; SDF) for the company's own coal railways.

history

The nine locomotives were built in 1927 at První česko-moravská (PČM) in Prague for the industrial line Mährisch Ostrau – Dombrau of Ferdinand's Northern Railway. Since the ČSD ran the coal railways, they were classified as 514.001 to 514.009 in their designation scheme. Another three locomotives were purchased in 1930, they were given the numbers 514.010 to 514.012. In 1945 the Ferdinands-Nordbahn was nationalized and now traded as Ostravsko-karvinskékomouhelné doly (OKD).

In 1950, OKD acquired three ČKD type EP 800 locomotives as a successor. They were initially given the numbers 514.013 to 514.015, and only later were they classified in the ČSD series 525.0 .

Locomotives similar to the 514.0 were also procured in 1947 by the Studénská-Štramberská dráha ( Stauding-Stramberger Eisenbahn ; StŠtD). They were added to the inventory of the operational ČSD as private railway locomotives with the numbers 514.901 and 514.902 . One of these locomotives - the 514.901 - was added to the ČSD class 514.0 after the city was nationalized in 1951.

Until the 1960s, the locomotives were used on the coal railways around Ostrava, until they became dispensable with the beginning of the traction change. The last locomotive was retired in 1967. None of the 514.0 series has been preserved in a museum.
