The privileged Stauding-Stramberger Eisenbahn (SgSgEB / StStB; Czech: Výsostná Studénsko-štramberská dráha; StŠtD ) was a private railway company in Austria and its successor state, Czechoslovakia . The company owned and operated the line from Stauding (Studénka) to Stramberg (Štramberk) in northern Moravia .

history

On June 15, 1881, the Gutmann brothers received “the right to build and operate a standard-gauge local train from the Stauding station of the a. priv. Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn via Freiberg to Stramberg ” granted. The basis of the concession was the Railway Concession Act of December 14, 1854 and the Railway Operating Regulations of November 16, 1851. The law of May 25, 1880 concerning concessions and privileges for local railways did not apply. The concessionaires were obliged to start construction of the line immediately and to finish it within six months. The duration of the concession was set at 90 years.

On December 19, 1881, the line was opened for freight traffic and on April 1, 1882 for passenger traffic. The Stauding-Stramberger Eisenbahn carried out the operation itself.

After the Sudetenland was annexed to Germany in October 1938, the company's railway area was entirely on German territory. After the merger with the Stramberg – Wernsdorf local railway in 1942, the company traded as Eisenbahn AG Stauding – Stramberg – Wernsdorf .

After the re-establishment of Czechoslovakia in 1945, the company continued to exist formally as Železniční akciová společnost Studénka – Štramberk – Veřovice . The owners were now the nationalized Witkowitz iron works (Vítkovické železárny np). On January 1, 1951, the infrastructure and vehicles were taken over by the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD). The company was dissolved.

Locomotives and wagons

The Stauding-Stramberger Eisenbahn acquired two triple-coupled tank locomotives from the Floridsdorf locomotive factory in 1882/83 as initial equipment , as they were also procured by the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) as class 97 . By 1907 six more were added to the inventory. As a more powerful type, the Stauding-Stramberger Eisenbahn procured four locomotives of the four-coupled kkStB series 178 between 1913 and 1918 . All locomotives were named after locations in the railway area. The ČSD gave the locomotives the official numbers 310.901-310.907 and 422.907-422.910 after 1925. As the most modern vehicles, the company received two five-coupled locomotives from ČKD in 1947 , which were classified as 514.901 and 514.902 .

The Stauding-Stramberger Eisenbahn acquired a Tatra tower car for travel in 1930 . It was given the road number M 120.401 . During the Second World War, the vehicle equipped with a gasoline engine was converted to run on natural gas . After the Second World War (1946) the company received two new diesel multiple units of the ČSD series M 131.1 (M 131.103 and M 131.115).
