Lido Tomasi (born November 17, 1955 in Vione , Province of Brescia ) is a former Italian ski jumper .

Career

Tomasi regularly jumped the tournament from the Four Hills Tournament in 1973/74 , but at no time in his career could he achieve top places in jumping in the tour.

At the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck , Tomasi reached 45th place on the normal hill and 47th place on the large hill.

He competed in his first World Cup competition on December 27, 1979 in Cortina d'Ampezzo , where he was able to win his first World Cup points with 12th place. He also succeeded in doing this at the World Cup in Thunder Bay with 14th place.

At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid he was again part of the Italian squad and reached 38th place on the normal hill and 46th place on the large hill. Two weeks after the games he was able to achieve his best result of the season with 9th place in the World Cup show jumping in St. Moritz . He finished the 1979/80 season in 49th place in the overall World Cup standings.

The 1980/81 season started just as badly as the previous season. At the Four Hills Tournament 1980/81 could not win any points again. However, this was followed by a number of placements among the top ten. He achieved his best result of the season in jumping in Sapporo with a 7th place on the large hill. At the end of the season he finished 26th in the overall World Cup ranking. It should remain the highest World Cup placement of his career.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1982 he surprisingly reached 15th place on the normal hill and 36th place on the large hill. At the end of the 1981/82 World Cup season , after changing individual World Cup results, he finished 34th overall with 21 points. In the 1982/83 World Cup season he was again able to achieve several top 20 and top 10 results and ended the season in 29th place in the overall standings.

At the beginning of the 1983/84 World Cup season he was able to achieve his best individual placings in the World Cup with two sixth places in Thunder Bay and Lake Placid. Only in Cortina d'Ampezzo on January 11, 1984 he was able to surpass this performance with a 5th place. However, this placement was also the last in the top ten in his career. Tomasi was nominated again for the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo , where he reached 21st place on the normal hill and 33rd place on the large hill. Tomasi was the only Italian ski jumper to date to have been nominated for three consecutive Olympic tournaments. After Tomasi was able to end the last World Cup of the season with a point gain shortly after the games in Planica , he reached 29th place in the overall World Cup ranking.

In the 1984/85 World Cup season , Tomasi only jumped three World Cup competitions as part of the Four Hills Tournament 1984/85 . The jumping in Bischofshofen on January 6th 1985 was his last active World Cup jumping.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1985 in Seefeld in Tyrol he jumped again at the end of his career on the normal hill, but was unable to achieve any success with 50th place.
