There are swamps around the Ira Lalaro. The area south of the mountain is almost untouched and almost unpopulated. In the karst hills there are smaller lakes, rivers, swamps and various forests. The best preserved primary forests of Timor can be found around the mountain . The area is part of the Nino Konis Santana National Park .
