The Timor honeyeater ( Lichmera flavicans ) is a Southeast Asian representatives of the bird family of honeyeater (Meliphagidae).

description

With 12.5 to 14 cm, the Timor honey eater is a medium-sized representative of its family. Its beak is not the longest and curved, but it is robust. The plumage is strong green-olive, above the eyes it has a blackish mask. The bright spot behind it is the reason for its English name: "Yellow-eared Honeyeater" .

Occurrence and habitat

The species occurs only in Timor , here both in the Indonesian western part and in East Timor . It is not considered endangered. The Timor Honeyeater is a resident bird . It is mainly found in dry forests, but also in plantations, dry savannas, lowland and mountain rainforests, for example on Tatamailau , on Monte Mundo Perdido , in the Nino Konis Santana National Park and in Tasitolu . Its diet consists of nectar, but now and then also of insects. Despite the general threat to its habitat, its existence has so far not been considered endangered.
