Mikael Appelgren (born September 6, 1989 in Uddevalla ) is a Swedish handball goalkeeper who plays for the Bundesliga club Rhein-Neckar Löwen .

Career

Appelgren moved from GF Kroppskultur to the Swedish first division club IFK Skövde HK in 2009 . In the 2011/12 season he was elected to the All-Star Team of the Elitserien. From the summer of 2012 he was under contract with the German Bundesliga club MT Melsungen , with whom he reached the Final Four of the DHB Cup in 2013 and 2014 . For the 2015/16 season he moved to the Rhein-Neckar Löwen , with whom he signed a three-year contract.

Appelgren made his debut for the Swedish national team on June 12, 2011 in a European Championship qualifier against Israel . He took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . So far he has played 93 international matches.
