The vehicles of the series 534.0 were fünffachgekuppelte freight train - Tender locomotives of Czechoslovak State Railways (CSD). Between 1938 and 1945 the locomotives that were part of the Deutsche Reichsbahn had the road numbers 58 2201 to 58 2216.

history

The class 534.0 locomotives were developed by Škoda in Pilsen in the early 1920s . In terms of construction, they still corresponded to the old Austrian building principles. The first 30 locomotives were manufactured by Škoda in 1923 with the serial numbers 241 to 270 for the ČSD. Later the company Breitfeld & Daněk in Slaný was included in the production. The locomotives proved their worth. A total of 128 locomotives had been delivered to ČSD by 1938.

Even after Czechoslovakia dissolved into independent Slovakia and the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in 1939, further locomotives were manufactured. In 1942 and 1943 another 21 locomotives of this type were built, eleven of which went to the Slovenské železnice (SŽ) and ten to the Protectorate Railways of Bohemia and Moravia (BMB-ČMD). After 1945 they were given the ČSD numbers 534.0129 to 534.0149. The locomotives that came to the DR in 1938 were sold to the BMB in October 1942.

During the Second World War, there were plans to continue building the class 534.0 as a war steam locomotive 2 . The background was that many railway lines in Bohemia and Moravia were only designed for an axle load of 14.5 tonnes and the DR series 50 could only be used there to a limited extent. Between 21 and 31 May 1940 to found comparative measurement trips with two series on the line Brno-Bohemian Trübau (Brno-Česká Třebová) instead, was ultimately apart in which result from the continued construction of the series 534.0.

After the end of the Second World War, corresponding locomotives were built again, but due to some design changes they were classified in the class 534.03 .

In December 1973, the last locomotive, the 534.0123, was retired. The 534.027 has been preserved as an exhibit in the National Technical Museum in Prague .
