The ČSD series E 424.1 were electric shunting locomotives of the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD). They were used on the previous 1.5 kV direct current system in the Prague railway junction .

history

In 1927 two shunting locomotives were delivered to the Czechoslovak State Railways ( ČSD), the mechanical part of which was progressively designed with a single-axle drive and the Bo'Bo 'axle arrangement.

It is known from operational experience that both locomotives were very prone to failure in service. There were constant problems with the insulation and the traction motor drive, where the armature had to be changed frequently.

That was the reason why both locomotives were not handed over to Tabor or Lipno after the voltage change at the Prague node . The E 424.102 was retired in 1959, the E 424.101 in 1961.

technical features

The locomotive is an electric locomotive without running axles like the ČSD series E 436.0, which appeared in the same year . Known technical details of her were an indirect electropneumatic control of the pawl bearing traction motors , an automatic traction brake, combined with an additional pneumatic brake.
