The ČSD series E 436.0 was an electric locomotive of the former Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD, which was intended for the 1500 volt direct current electrified network in the Prague node .

History and commitment

It was created by the ČKD company in 1927 and 1928 for the transport of passenger and freight trains on the electrified connecting railways in the Prague junction between the Smichov and Vršovice stations . In terms of structure, it is designed like the DR series E 44, which appeared 5 years later . A structurally identical variant was designed as the E 466.1 with a modified gear ratio . Apart from the higher top speed of 90 km / h, this was identical to the E 436.0 .

The locomotives provided service on the connecting lines in Prague for decades . After changing the power system to 3000 V direct current, the E 436.002 and E 436.004 were transferred to the service on the Tábor – Bechyně railway line , the remaining two locomotives were scrapped. The E 436.002 was scrapped here in May 1967 . The E 436.004 was in service here until the end of 1972, at last only with three functioning traction motors.

After that, the E 436.004 was included in the collection of the National Technical Museum in Prague and was seen from 1983 as an inoperable exhibit on the Tábor – Bechyně railway line from 2002 onwards , after its defective traction motor was repaired and the translation was also improved.

technical features

The locomotive has four axles with two bogies, which are mutually connected with a coupling and have pulling and pushing devices on the outside. The main frame is supported on the bogies on sliding plates, which transmit the torque by means of two pivot pins. The locomotive body is on the frame and in front of it there are 2 front structures, which contain the auxiliary equipment for the cooling device and the pneumatic device of the locomotive. The locomotive has 2 end driver's cabs and in between the engine room analogous to the DR series E 44 . In front of the top of the cab there is a wrap around the stem. The machine is equipped with four direct current motors in series with a pin bearing design. Always two (1st and 3rd, 2nd and 4th) are continuously connected in series. Their voltage is controlled by an electro-pneumatic resistance control with 13 stages in series and seven stages in series-parallel combination. The last stage switches off the drive motors.
