The ČSD series E 466.1 was an electric locomotive of the former Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD, which was intended for the 1500 volt direct current electrified network in the Prague node .

History and commitment

It was created by the ČKD company in 1927 and 1928 for the transport of passenger and freight trains on the electrified connecting railways in the Prague junction between the Smichov and Vršovice stations . In terms of structure, it is designed like the DR series E 44, which appeared 5 years later . A structurally identical variant was designed as E 436.0 with a changed gear ratio . Apart from the lower top speed of 60 km / h, this was identical to the E 466.1 .

The locomotives provided service on the connecting lines in Prague for decades . After the power system was changed to 3000 V direct current, the locomotives were decommissioned and scrapped.

technical features

The locomotive has four axles with two bogies, which are mutually connected with a coupling and have pulling and pushing devices on the outside. The main frame is supported on the bogies on sliding plates, which transmit the torque by means of two pivot pins. The locomotive body is located on the frame and in front of it there are two stems that contain the auxiliary equipment for the cooling equipment and the pneumatic equipment of the locomotive. The locomotive has two end driver's cabs and in between the engine room similar to the DR series E 44 . In front of the top of the cab there is a wrap around the stem. The machine is equipped with four direct current motors in series with a pivot bearing design. Always two (1st and 3rd, 2nd and 4th) are continuously connected in series. Their voltage is controlled by an electro-pneumatic resistance control with 13 stages in series and seven stages in series-parallel combination. The last stage switches off the drive motors.
