Heinrich Römer

Heinrich Römer (born June 13, 1932 in Eschweiler ; † October 11, 2009 in Stolberg ) was the last city director of the city of Stolberg.

Origin and occupation

Heinrich Römer was born in 1932. When he was appointed city director on November 16, 1967, he was the youngest in what was then the administrative district of Aachen . On December 31, 1996, he resigned from this office, this time as the longest-serving city director in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Due to his professional activity, he was an active member of the Presidium of the Association of Towns and Municipalities.

Party and organizations

Heinrich Römer was a member of the CDU.

Heinrich Römer was particularly active in the Stolberg Carnival. Here he was active as a town clerk for eleven years and poked fun at last year's prince proclamation.

Honors

In 1998 Heinrich Römer turned down honorary citizenship of the city of Stolberg. The SPD parliamentary group introduced this request and also achieved the required two-thirds majority in the other parliamentary groups. Only in parts of the CDU parliamentary group was there massive criticism of this honorary citizenship, so that Heinrich Römer waived this honor.

In May 2004 Heinrich Römer received the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class from the then District President Jürgen Roters .
