The ČSD series M 231.0 was the first railcar manufactured by Tatra in Kopřivnice with electrical power transmission for the former Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).

history

Tatra manufactured the M 231.001 motor vehicle with electrical power transmission based on the GEBUS system .

Although the railcar was heavy, it had more favorable values ​​compared to other vehicles with electrical power transmission of the time. Compared to the M 230.1 , it had a specific weight of 246.5 kg / hp instead of 269 kg / hp.

The date of withdrawal is given as 1944.

Principle of power transmission according to the bus system

The structural and mechanical part of the car corresponded to the M 251.0 . It had two motors, whereby the mechanical power transmission according to the Winterthur system was exchanged for the electrical power transmission according to the Gebus system. The total power of the car was 200 hp.

The car body was designed as in the M 251.0 series and divided into three parts. The compartments for the passengers had a total of 68 seats. There was also a mail and luggage compartment.
