The ČSD series T 211.0 (from 1988: series 700 ) were diesel-mechanical shunting locomotives of the Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD.
development
In addition to the construction of steam locomotives, this locomotive was designed by ČKD from 1953 , and in 1956 a prototype was delivered to ČSD. The appearance of this simple construction, the ease of use and maintenance were convincing, and so a total of 835 copies were produced in various plants from 1957 to 1961.
This small locomotive was used for light duty in the railway administration (light shunting service, shunting in depots) and as a light work locomotive. The Tatra 111 A truck diesel engine was selected as the power source, and the Mylius gearbox , which has proven itself in the M 131.1 railcar, was used for power transmission .
In addition to the ČSD , this locomotive was delivered in various designs for various companies and for export (GDR, China, Bulgaria, Egypt, USSR, Poland, Romania, Albania, Iraq, India and Hungary).
Within this series there were some deviations both in appearance and in some technical details. In some of the locomotives, for example, the doors are on the side of the driver's cab, while in the majority the entry is from the rear. All of the locomotive's superstructures were designed so that they could be used for various gauges from 600 mm to 1676 mm.
Most of the locomotives were later given new engines with an output of 147 kW. This reconstruction led to the classification in the T 211.1 series . The locomotives with the original engine were renumbered in the 700 series in 1988 , the reconstructed machines in the 701 series .
The T 211.0066 locomotive shown still has the original TATRA 111 A engine . It drove in a ČSD plant in Prague until 1992 and was then included in the collection of the Jaroměř Railway Museum .
