The ČSD class 731 (originally planned as: class T 457.1 ) is a diesel-electric shunting locomotive of the former Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).

history

The machines were created as a derivative and technical improvement of the ČSD series T 457.0 . Two prototypes were built in 1988, series production took place in 1991–1992 in two series of 30 pieces each.

technical features

The basic concept of the locomotive corresponds to that of the ČSD series T 457.0 . The length over the buffers and the external design of the vehicles differ. The framework has been changed slightly. In addition, the lower top lights are attached to the frame in separate housings, the top top light is integrated into the locomotive body .

The electrical part also corresponds to the previous series. The electric brake was revised again, which contributed to an improvement of the machine.

commitment

It is a machine for medium-heavy shunting and light road service. The machines are popular, especially thanks to their good traction properties. Its electrodynamic brake is also better than the previous version. The performance is a bit too low for operation on the road.
