The ČSD series T 457.0 (from 1988: series 730 ) is a diesel-electric shunting locomotive of the former Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).
history
The machines were built in 1978 because a locomotive in the power class around 600 kW was missing for the heavy shifting service on siding and factory traffic, and the existing T 448.0 and T 466.2 proved to be less suitable for this operation. The locomotives were therefore designed with an elevated driver's cab with diagonally arranged driver's desks. They have no train heating. The specified dimensions and masses of the machines apply to series production, the prototypes had minor deviations.
In 1978 the first machines were delivered, they were delivered to the Nymburk and Olomouc depots . Some railway companies and railway military institutions also received the machines. They are equipped with automatic speed regulation , remote control and multiple control. A locomotive was delivered to a wood processing factory in Yugoslavia .
The machines are still in operation today with classic ČKD technology. During their production, the prototype of the modernized ČSD series T 457.1 was developed. Despite the decline in freight traffic, they can still be seen at many freight yards of the České dráhy and Železnice Slovenskej republiky .
