The ČSD series T 466.2 (from 1988: series 742 ) is a diesel-electric freight train and shunting locomotive of the former Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).
history
In 1973 the first locomotives of this series were presented by ČKD in Prague . These were initially intended as factory locomotives and for export. From 1977 the then ČSD purchased 453 locomotives in nine series. 41 locomotives of this type were built for various industrial railways in Czechoslovakia.
To replace the rack railway operation on the Tanvald - Kořenov line ( Tannwalder rack railway ) another ten locomotives were procured as the T 466.3 series in 1988 . As a novelty, these locomotives were given the electrodynamic resistance brake and electronic engine control required for operation on steep sections . These locomotives are now classified as the 743 series.
The machines are still in use at the two successor companies of ČSD in today's Czech Republic ( ČD ) and Slovakia ( ZSSK ).
The 742.036 and 742.050 locomotives came to the Kinshasa Light Railroad in July 2011 . They were a gift from the Belgian government on the 50th anniversary of the independence of the Congo state . At the Nymburk repair shop (DPOV as), the locomotives received a general inspection, during which the bogies and couplings were also adapted to the standards common in the African Cape Gauge (1067 mm). In Kinshasa they got the numbers CFI 201 and CFI 202 from the local operator ONATRA .
