The ČSD T 679.2001 and T 679.2002 were prototypes of diesel-electric locomotives of the former Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) for heavy freight train service. They corresponded to the SŽD series ТЭ109 , which was also supplied to other countries in the then Eastern Bloc. Corresponding locomotives ran as class 131 on the Deutsche Reichsbahn .

history

The type ТЭ 109 locomotives were developed at the end of the 1960s by the Voroshilovgrad locomotive factory at the request of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, which required heavy diesel locomotives for passenger and freight transport. The first prototype was presented in 1970 as the V 300 001. Series production of the locomotives, now known as the 130 series , began that same year. These locomotives did not yet have a train heater, so they could only be used in freight transport. A second series, known as the 131 series, therefore received a modified gear ratio in order to obtain greater tractive power. The maximum speed of these locomotives was reduced accordingly from 140 to 100 km / h.

In October 1971, ČSD received two locomotives with the serial numbers 0037 and 0038 from the ongoing production of the 130 series. With their reduced top speed of 100 km / h, they largely corresponded to the 131 series that were built later. The ČSD housed the two test locomotives with the numbers T 679.2001 and T 679.2002 in the Brno-Maloměřice depot . They were primarily used on the Brno – Česká Třebová route , where they handled heavy goods traffic together with the T 679.1 series locomotives .

In the end, the ČSD no longer acquired series locomotives. This was particularly due to the fact that the proven T 679.1 series was already available in large numbers for heavy freight traffic on the non-electrified routes and that a comprehensive electrification program was also planned. Many of the possible routes would also have had to be upgraded for the use of heavy locomotives with an axle load of over 20 tons, for which the financial means were lacking. For these areas of operation, the ČSD finally procured the four-axle diesel locomotives of the T 478.3 and T 478.4 series , which could be used in front of heavy trains in double traction.

After a mileage of 300,000 kilometers, the first general inspection in a repair shop was due. Since these could not be carried out in Czechoslovakia, the two loners were parked in 1976 and offered for sale. The Bulgarian State Railways (BDŽ) acquired both locomotives in the same year and put one back into service as of 07-1917. The other served as a spare parts dispenser.

The locomotive will still be used by the Bulgarian State Railways in 2011. It has been number 07.091 since 1988. It is based in the Gorna Orjahovica depot .
