Tom Evenson 1933

Tom Evenson (actually Thomas Evenson ; born January 9, 1910 in Manchester , † November 28, 1997 ) was a British long-distance and obstacle runner .

In 1930 and 1932 he won the Cross of Nations , and in 1933 he became national champion in cross country .

On the track he won the British Empire Games, starting for England , in 1930 in Hamilton bronze over six miles and in 1934 in London silver over two miles obstacle. Also over two mile obstacles, he was British champion in 1931, 1932 and 1936.

He started twice at the Olympic Games, each over 3000 m obstacle. In 1932 in Los Angeles he won the silver medal in a race that actually went over 3,460 m due to a mistake in the lap counter, and in 1936 in Berlin he was eliminated in the preliminary run.

Tom Evenson started for the Salford Harriers.
