The former Czechoslovak State Railways ( ČSD) designated a two-axle rail bus ("kolejový autobus") for local rail traffic as M 120.001 .

history

In the 1920s, the ČSD was also forced to oppose the growing competition from road traffic with modern, faster vehicles. After the successful use of benzene-electric railcars in long-distance traffic on the main lines , corresponding vehicles should now also be used on the local railways.

ČKD in Prague built a railcar in 1927, which was based on a street bus from Praga . The ČSD designated the vehicle as M 120.001 and used it on the branch lines Čejč – Zaječí and Kopidlno – Bakov nad Jizerou . The railcar also ran in central Slovakia for a short time until it was parked in 1936. In 1946 the vehicle was officially decommissioned and scrapped.

technical features

Technically, the vehicle was a Praga NO bus equipped with a rail chassis . The main difference to the road vehicle was that the railcar had doors on both sides for changing passengers.
