from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Československé vagónky Tatra np (German: Czechoslovakian Waggonfabriken Tatra ) was an association of nationalized wagon construction companies in Czechoslovakia . The company was based in Studénka .

history

From 1958 onwards, a total of 929 nationalized companies in Czechoslovakia were combined to form 383 companies similar to a combine (VHJ - výrobní hospodářské jednotky, production units). In the course of this concentration process, the Československé vagónky Tatra np was created on April 1st, 1958 for the wagon construction company

With the exception of the Poprad wagon factory, the factories were already part of Ringhoffer-Tatra AG before the merger , which traded as Tatra np after nationalization in 1946 . With the establishment of the Československé vagónky Tatra, the wagon factories lost their technical, organizational, administrative and financial independence.

In 1963, the Vagonka Tatra Smíchov np wagon factory , which had been specializing more and more in the construction of trams since the early 1950s, was taken over by VHJ ČKD and henceforth traded as ČKD Tatra .

Československé vagónky Tatra np was dissolved again on July 1, 1965. From then on, the wagon manufacturing companies belonged to the Závody těžkého strojírenství np company association (heavy engineering companies) in Martin . In 1970, the wagon construction company was incorporated into the new Československé vagónky np (Czechoslovakian wagon factories) group.

Sub-operations

At Vagonka Tatra Studénka (formerly Moravskoslezská vagónka) multiple units and passenger coaches were built. Freight wagons were produced by Vagonka Tatra Česká Lípa (formerly the Bohemia wagon factory) and Vagonka Tatra Poprad . At Vagonka Tatra Smíchov , before the transfer to ČKD, saloon cars and passenger coaches were manufactured in addition to trams.

Simultaneously with the establishment of the Československé vagónky Tatra, the central design office (EVIKA), which was already independent at Ringhoffer-Tatra, was transformed into the Výzkumný ústav kolejových vozidel Praha (Research Institute for Rail Vehicles) in Prague, which is still in existence today and was responsible for the central recording and construction within the group of companies .
