Đunis ( Serbian - Cyrillic Ђунис ) is a village in the Serbian Opština Kruševac in the Okrug Rasina .

The place has 812 inhabitants (2002 census). The nearby monasteries Pokrova Presvete Bogorodice and Sv. Romana , which are visited by around 20,000 tourists annually.

geography

Đunis is located in the center of Serbia. It is about 210 km from Belgrade, 14 km from Krusevac and 8 km from the E-75 motorway, via the main railway lines Belgrade - Nis - Skopje - Thessaloniki, with its own passenger and freight station. Djunis is located in the South Morava Valley and the Ribarska reka River flows through it.

climate

Đuni's climate is temperate continental with the influence of mountain climate. The summers are very fresh mornings and evenings due to the wind from Jastrebac. In winter a lot of snow but with rare severe frosts.

Demographics

696 adults live in Đunis. The median age is 47.1 years (44.1 for men and 49.9 for women). The village has 276 households and the average number of people per household is 2.94. This village is largely inhabited by Serbs (according to the 2002 census).

history

Đunis had a very eventful history. Although frequent with its many churches and monasteries the target of the Turkish attacks was seldom a bit of historical events refer to the Serbian-Turkish War of 1876. The Serbian army under the command of the Russian general Michail Tschernaev in Djunis on October 17th suffered a devastating one Defeat never seen before in his military career.

tourism

Đunis visit tens of thousands of tourists every year. But there are too few accommodations. Tourist attractions are the monasteries and a relatively well-preserved nature.
