Ēriks Mārtiņš Feldmanis
Ēriks Mārtiņš Feldmanis (from 1940 Ēriks Grodsala ; born September 12, 1884 in Jelgava , † August 4, 1945 in the Riga Central Prison ) was a Latvian diplomat, politician and lawyer .
Life
From 1894 to 1904 Feldmanis studied at the Jelgava High School and until 1909 he studied and completed the study of law at the University of Tartu . From 1909 to 1912 he was a legal candidate in Jelgava. In 1912 he became a paralegal. From 1913 to 1914 he was a member of the Jelgava City Council. During World War I , from 1914 to 1918, he was a Russian officer. In 1918 he returned to Latvia and worked as a lawyer in Jelgava. In 1920 he was Minister of Defense of Latvia. Afterwards he was Latvian ambassador to the Soviet Union . From 1919 to 1920 he was a public prosecutor and from 1930 to 1940 he headed the Jelgava District Court as the judge's chairman.
