Ōno Rinka

Ōno Rinka ( jap 大野 林 火 ; born March 25, 1904 in Yokohama ; † August 21, 1982 ), actually Ōno Masashi ( 大野 正 ), was a Japanese haiku poet of the Shōwa period .

Life

Ōno Rinka was born in Yokohama , Kanagawa Prefecture. After studying at the Faculty of Economics at Tōkyō Imperial University , he devoted himself to haiku poetry, in addition to a job as a teacher. From 1926 the haiku magazine Hama ( , dt. "Coast") was published under the direction of Rinka. He became a student of Usuda Arō and published numerous works one after the other. He first attracted attention as a haiku poet with the haiku compilation Kaimon ( 海 門 , German "Strait of the Sea").

In 1953 he became chairman of the Haiku Poets Association ( 俳 人 協会 , Haijin-kyōkai ).

In 1973 he received the Kanagawa Culture Prize for Literature.

Ōno Rinka died in 1982 at the age of 78.
